Synopsis
The Bull and the Spear opens the Silver Hand trilogy roughly a thousand years after the first Corum trilogy, with Corum having lived out a long peaceful life beside Rhalina until her death from natural human old age. Grieving and plagued by strange recurring dreams, Corum is summoned across time to a future world where the Mabden face an existential threat from the Fhoi Myore, giant, cold-bringing beings intent on conquering their lands, and where the desperate Mabden have come to regard him as a returning demigod who can save them. Unlike his more passive role in the earlier trilogy, Corum must now actively seek sacred artifacts, the spear Bryionak and the bull Crinanass, to lead resistance against the Fhoi Myore, all while wrestling with what he owes people who worship him as something he knows he is not.
