Synopsis

The Burning Page, the third book in the Invisible Library series, opens with Irene fleeing a version of Revolutionary France on the back of a dragon, only to discover on her return that gateways connecting the Library to its many worlds have begun malfunctioning unpredictably. To help restore order, Irene and her assistant Kai are sent to retrieve an important book from the Winter Palace in an alternate St. Petersburg, a mission complicated from the start by Alberich, a nightmarish figure long bent on the Library's destruction, who confronts Irene with an ultimatum she cannot easily refuse. At the same time, her friend Vale is suffering the effects of exposure to Chaotic forces, and a mysterious figure from Irene's own past resurfaces seeking her help, leaving her to juggle the Library's survival, the people she cares about, and her own safety all at once.
