Synopsis
The Case of the Toxic Mutants, the ninth Dragonbreath book, casts Danny Dragonbreath as an amateur detective facing an unusual case involving mutant creatures, toxic sludge, and a string of missing dentures around town. Presented in a graphic-novel format distinct from the illustrated prose of earlier volumes, the story follows Danny as he applies his particular expertise in strange creatures and slimy substances to make sense of the mystery. Joined by his friends Wendell and Christiana, he investigates the source of the contamination and its connection to the mutations turning up around the school and neighborhood, piecing together clues that point toward an explanation stranger than any of them initially suspect.

Notes
- From the series record (Dragonbreath): Eleven-volume illustrated middle-grade chapter-book series (Dial Books, 2009-2016) following Danny Dragonbreath, a talking dragon attending a school otherwise full of reptiles and amphibians, whose comic misadventures regularly involve genuine magical creatures and events (fairies, were-creatures, ghosts, curses). Author-illustrated throughout; every volume mixes prose chapters with full-page comic-style illustrated sequences. Confirmed traditionally published from first release, not web-serialized.
