Synopsis
Fifteen years of peace have passed, and Queen Inos and King Rap of Krasnegar sense a darkness gathering. Rap stays out of the border wars of the Impire until he learns that the Protocol, the treaty that has governed the use of magic for a thousand years, is in danger of failing. In the capital, Hub, the young heir Shandie fights the Caliph of Zark and is crowned Emshandar V after the old Imperor's death. Rap receives a divine warning that he must lose a child, and a gifted pixie girl named Thaile is taken to the College. Meanwhile word spreads that the sorcerer Zinixo is seizing control of all other sorcerers.

- Internal chronology, within Pandemia: position 2 of 8: previous Magic Casement (1990) · next Faery Lands Forlorn (1991)
