Synopsis

The Dancers of Arun, published by Elizabeth A. Lynn in 1979, continues the Chronicles of Tornor a generation after Watchtower. Kerris is a disabled young scribe living at Tornor Keep who discovers he possesses a rare telepathic witch-gift linking him to his brother Kel, a member of a traveling order of dancers known as chearas. Kerris leaves Tornor to travel south with Kel's cheara to the city of Elath, where he hopes to learn more about his gift from Sefer, Kel's lover and the founder of the first Tanjo, a school established to train witches like him. As Kerris works to understand and accept both his ability and himself, a new danger emerges from the Asech, desert tribes seeking to acquire witch-gift training of their own.

Notes

  • From the series record (The Chronicles of Tornor): A loosely connected trilogy set generations apart in the same world, exploring different societies and, notably for its time, matter-of-fact same-sex relationships among its protagonists.
