Synopsis
The Northern Girl, published by Elizabeth A. Lynn in 1980, concludes the Chronicles of Tornor roughly a century after The Dancers of Arun. Sorren is a southern bondservant gifted with unusually far-reaching witch-powers, who quietly dreams of one day returning to Tornor Keep, though the fortress has fallen into disrepair in the years since the earlier books. Her world is now dominated by the White Clan, an order of ambitious witches who have banned swords from the major cities and established a network of schools to train and control witch-gifted people like her. When Sorren is drawn into a growing conspiracy involving smuggled weapons and a planned assassination targeting her employer, she is forced to abandon her habitual caution and take an active role in protecting the people she cares about.
