Synopsis

The concluding volume of the trilogy opens with the war between the Ancient Lands and the Fertile Lands approaching its decisive phase, five years after the events chronicled in the first two books. Misaianes, son of Death, directs his campaign from a position of growing strength, while Death herself watches events unfold from a distance, and the scattered resistance movements among magicians, navigators and other peoples of the Fertile Lands continue to resist his dominion rather than submit. Alliances forged and broken in the earlier books are tested further as politics, warfare and magic become inseparably entangled, and the surviving protagonists from the earlier volumes are drawn into the final struggle to determine whether the Fertile Lands can withstand the invasion that has threatened them since the beginning of the saga.

Notes

  • From the series record (Saga of the Borderlands): Core Canon: the complete trilogy, originally published in Spanish as La Saga de los Confines. The first volume was published in English translation (Atlantic Books, 2013) as The Days of the Deer; an independently confirmed English translation date for the second and third volumes could not be established and is left unrecorded rather than guessed.
