Synopsis

Picking up several years after the events of the first book, this second volume of the trilogy finds the continent in an uneasy peace: Cucub and Kuy-Kuyen now have children, and the sorcerer Kupuka has taken on Piukeman as a pupil in magic. The world remains divided between the Isolated Land ruled by Bor and Zabralkan, the Fertile Lands under Lord Hoh-Quiu, and other realms bound only loosely together, while schemers such as Drimus and Molitzmos work against them from within. Into this fragile balance comes the Shadow, an emissary of Death herself, moving across the continent and drawing a young girl named Wilkilen into her path. As a renewed invasion gathers strength beyond the sea, the peoples of the Fertile Lands must contend with both this external threat and the internal conspiracies that Death's presence stirs among them.

Notes

  • From the series record (Saga of the Borderlands): Core Canon: the complete trilogy, originally published in Spanish as La Saga de los Confines. The first volume was published in English translation (Atlantic Books, 2013) as The Days of the Deer; an independently confirmed English translation date for the second and third volumes could not be established and is left unrecorded rather than guessed.
