Synopsis
Nish, his battered little troop and his few remaining allies are trapped on the Range of Ruin by the God-Emperor's great army, with a choice between humiliating surrender to his father and a suicidal fight to the death. He has to fight, and somehow win, because Santhenar itself is in peril: Stilkeen, an all-powerful shape-shifting being from the Void, has come to recover the stolen chthonic fire that once bound its physical and spirit aspects together, and wants revenge for the mortal insult done to it. And it may already be too late, for the chthonic fire has escaped its casket and is eating away the Antarctic lands as it once devoured the planet Aachan. Even if Nish defeats his father, there may be no way to stop the fire, or Stilkeen, before the whole world is consumed. The trilogy's conclusion.

Publication order and internal chronology are tracked as two separate orderings and are never conflated: a book's place in one says nothing about its place in the other.
