Synopsis

The Merdrun have at last succeeded in invading Santhenar, the culmination of a plan ten thousand years in the making, but they have only fifty-five days to build the Sapphire Portal, the greatest tower in the history of the Three Worlds, and put their dreadful purpose into effect. Karan, Llian and their uneasy allies have the same fifty-five days to destroy the reborn summon stone that gives the Merdrun their power, and to develop their daughter Sulien's gift and unlock the hidden memory that could reveal the invaders' one fatal weakness. But Sulien has been abducted, with dozens of other gifted children and a hundred thousand adults, all enslaved to build the portal in time, and to save her Karan faces the hardest choice of all: going into the enemy camp as a helpless slave herself.

Notes

  • From the series record (The Gates of Good and Evil): The fourth Three Worlds series and the direct sequel to The View from the Mirror: Karan and Llian, and their gifted daughter Sulien, against the Merdrun, warriors from the void called to Santhenar by a waking summon stone. The final volume is presented as concluding the whole Three Worlds sequence.

Publication order and internal chronology are tracked as two separate orderings and are never conflated: a book's place in one says nothing about its place in the other.
