Synopsis
The Diamond Throne is a 1989 fantasy novel by David Eddings, the first book in The Elenium trilogy. It opens with the Pandion Knight Sparhawk returning to the kingdom of Elenia after ten years of exile, only to discover that his young ward, Queen Ehlana, has been poisoned and magically encased in diamond by the traitorous Primate Annias in order to preserve her life while he seizes power in her absence. With his companions, including his old friend Kalten, his squire Kurik, and the mysterious Styric woman Sephrenia, Sparhawk sets out to rally support from the knights of the other three Church Knight orders and gathers additional allies, including a strange, silent girl known as Flute.
