Synopsis

The Ruby Knight continues the story begun in the earlier volume The Diamond Throne, the second book of David Eddings's Elenium trilogy. Sir Sparhawk and his companions, still racing against time to cure the poisoned and magically preserved Queen Ehlana, turn their search toward the Bhelliom, a powerful artifact fashioned in the shape of a sapphire rose and rumored to be lost somewhere within the kingdom. Their investigation leads them to Lake Randera, where the gem was said to have been cast long ago, but they discover that the deformed dwarf Ghwerig has already recovered it for himself and guards it jealously in his hidden lair. As Sparhawk's party closes in on Ghwerig's territory, they must contend with the dwarf's cunning traps and formidable defenses, knowing that time is running out for their queen and that possession of the Bhelliom may carry dangers of its own.

Notes

  • Year inferred from sequential logic and the Eddings bio's '1989-91' span; no standalone source independently confirmed this exact year.
  • From the series record (The Elenium): Credited to David Eddings solely on original editions (predates Leigh Eddings' 1995 crediting), author-credit fidelity rule.

Publication order and internal chronology are tracked as two separate orderings and are never conflated: a book's place in one says nothing about its place in the other.
