Synopsis
The second book of the Heritage of Shannara tetralogy picks up directly after The Scions of Shannara. Walker Boh, tasked by the shade of Allanon with restoring the lost Druid castle of Paranor to the Four Lands, is injured in a harrowing encounter with a guardian called the Asphinx in the Hall of Kings and loses an arm before escaping to seek healing. He is aided by Quickening, a mysterious woman created by the King of the Silver River to perform impossible tasks, and by Morgan Leah, who is honoring a fallen friend, and Horner Dees, a weathered survivor who knows the way to the cursed, stone-transformed city of Eldwist.
