Synopsis

An orphan dwarf named Tungdil Bolofar, raised among humans and apprenticed to the magus Lot-Ionan, is sent on what begins as a simple errand that draws him back into the world of his own kind. Journeying to the dwarf kingdoms of Girdlegard, he meets the warrior twins Boindil and Boendal and becomes entangled in growing dangers facing the five dwarf clans, including political intrigue and a conspiracy involving false claims about elven betrayal. As an ancient evil known as the Perished Land, responsible for destroying the fifthling dwarf kingdom roughly eleven centuries earlier, begins to stir again through a corrupted magus who has fallen under its influence, Tungdil learns that only the legendary weapon Keenfire, forged from rare materials and old knowledge, may be capable of standing against it.
