Synopsis
The Elder Gods opens the Dreamers series in the land of Dhrall, where four Elder Gods, each responsible for a different domain, face the return of an ancient malevolent force called the Vlagh, which is massing an invasion out of the Wasteland. Bound by their own law from using their divine powers to kill, the Elder Gods must instead recruit human mercenaries from beyond Dhrall's borders to fight on their behalf, while a group of young Dreamers, whose visions can glimpse and subtly shape the future, offer a second, stranger form of defense. Mercenary captains Hook-Beak of Maag and General Narasan of the Trogite Empire are hired to lead the defense of Dhrall's coasts, setting up a war between mortal armies and an ancient, alien enemy that the gods themselves are forbidden to fight directly.
