Synopsis

Opening the Halfblood Chronicles, The Elvenbane is set in a world elves entered through a portal from their own realm of Evelon and where they now rule over enslaved humans. An old prophecy holds that a halfblood, born of both elf and human, will one day spark a revolution against elven rule. When the pregnant human concubine Serina Daeth flees her elven-lord master into the desert, she dies giving birth, and her daughter Shana is found and raised not by elves or humans but by a dragon shaman named Alamarana, growing up outside either society's control. As Shana comes of age and eventually encounters secret communities of human wizards hiding their power from the elves, her presence begins to expose their existence, setting in motion the tensions between wizards and elven lords that the prophecy foretold.

Notes

  • From the series record (The Halfblood Chronicles): Closed trilogy: Andre Norton died in 2005 and Lackey never continued it solo. A fourth title, 'Elvenbred', is mentioned uncited on one Wikipedia bibliography page as 'planned but never published', single-sourced, not independently corroborated, not registered.
