Synopsis
The second book of the Genesis of Shannara trilogy begins immediately after Armageddon's Children, as Hawk and his companion Tessa mysteriously vanish from Seattle's Safeco Field in the middle of falling, transported by magical intervention. Logan Tom leads the Ghosts, a group of young survivors including Owl, Candle, Panther, and Bear, away from Seattle as demon forces overrun the city, while Angel Perez undertakes a separate mission among the Elves and Hawk mysteriously reawakens elsewhere. With humanity facing extinction from the demon invasion, the survival strategy hinges on protecting the magical Elfstones, relocating the Elves and their sacred tree the Ellcrys to safety, and gathering scattered survivors toward a prophesied Promised Land, even as demons, including the rogue Knight Krilka Koos and the commander Findo Gask, work to infiltrate and destroy both human and Elven communities.
