Synopsis
A thief known as the Embroidery Bandit is believed to have stolen a large quantity of gold and even to have broken into a prince's residence. The famed constable Jin Jiuling asks Lu Xiaofeng to catch the criminal within eight days, and Lu, who is as fond of wine and women as he is of solving puzzles, accepts a task that puts his reputation at stake. He follows trails of evidence across the capital and meets a range of suspects, each with a reason to want the gold or to hide something. As the deadline closes in, Lu must decide whom among the men who watch him he can trust.
