Synopsis
The Empty Grave is the fifth and final book in Jonathan Stroud's Lockwood & Co. series. Following the revelations of The Creeping Shadow, Anthony Lockwood, Lucy Carlyle, and George Cubbins have grown suspicious of the powerful Fittes Agency and the wider psychic-detection industry that profits from London's ghostly Problem. Convinced that the official explanation for the epidemic hides something the authorities do not want known, the team plans a perilous, unauthorized break-in at the Fittes family mausoleum to search for evidence. Their investigation draws the attention of dangerous rivals and forces them to rely on unlikely allies, including the sardonic skull Lucy has learned to converse with, as they edge toward a confrontation with the secretive figures who have shaped the agency world from behind the scenes for decades.
