Synopsis
The Creeping Shadow is the fourth book in Jonathan Stroud's Lockwood & Co. series. Having left the agency to work as a freelance psychic investigator, Lucy Carlyle earns a living taking on jobs that other London agencies find too risky or distasteful, keeping her distance from her former colleagues. When a client's stolen ghost-jar containing a powerful trapped spirit draws her back into contact with Anthony Lockwood, the two are pulled into their most dangerous assignment yet: tracing a black market trade in dangerous supernatural Sources that stretches through London's criminal underworld and far beyond ordinary case work. As Lucy and Lockwood dig deeper into the network of buyers and thieves supplying it, they begin to sense a scheme so unsettling that even hardened agents like themselves can scarcely credit what they are uncovering, one that threatens rival agencies and everything Lockwood & Co. has built.
