Synopsis
The Hollow Boy, the third book in Jonathan Stroud's Lockwood & Co. series, finds the three young psychic investigators battling ghostly Visitors in an alternate London plagued by supernatural outbreaks. A severe surge of hauntings engulfs the Chelsea district, baffling Scotland Yard and sparking public unrest, yet Lockwood & Co. find themselves mysteriously excluded from the official investigation even as they chase their own chance at recognition. Tensions rise within the small agency when a new assistant, the meticulous Holly Munro, joins the team, unsettling the group's dynamic and straining Lucy's confidence in her place among them. Meanwhile the trio juggles a string of unsettling smaller cases, from a house marked by unexplained bloody footprints to a department store plagued by strange phenomena, even as Lucy grows increasingly convinced she can communicate with the dead more directly than any agent should.
