Synopsis

The Green Man's Challenge is the fourth novel in the Green Man series and follows Daniel Mackmain, the half-human, half-dryad protagonist tasked by the Green Man with mediating disputes between the supernatural beings of wild places and the ordinary humans who share the land with them, unaware. In this installment an ancient threat tied to old accounts of giants begins stirring on the Wiltshire chalk downs, and Dan has only fragmented folklore and fairy tales to guide him as he investigates. He also has to work out whether the other supernatural inhabitants of the area will prove to be allies or additional obstacles, all while the story's contemporary setting reflects the disruptions of the period in which it is written.
