Synopsis
Guerdon is a city of alchemical factories that has stayed out of a long war between gods and mages, but something is stirring in the tunnels beneath its streets. Three young thieves are at the centre of the story: Cari, an orphan who owes her gang everything; Spar, whose body is slowly turning to stone; and Rat, a ghoul from the underground. Their crime boss sends them to break into the House of Law to steal a document, a job that is really a cover for a larger plan. It ends in a fire that destroys a large part of the city, and Cari wakes with a new power. Friendships are tested as conspiracies and secrets come to light.
