Synopsis
The Icebound Land continues the Ranger's Apprentice series after Will and his companion Evanlyn are captured by Skandian raiders and taken across the sea as slaves, forced to endure harsh conditions far from home. Meanwhile, Halt is banished from Araluen for a year after defying the kingdom's orders in his effort to help Will, but rather than accept the sentence quietly, he sets out on an unofficial rescue mission to find his former apprentice. Along the way, Halt is joined by Horace, Will's old friend from Battleschool training, whose own skills prove useful as the search across unfamiliar territory grows more difficult. The narrative follows Will and Evanlyn's struggle to endure captivity in Skandia alongside Halt and Horace's parallel effort to track them down, building toward the two storylines' eventual reunion as both parties push through hardship in pursuit of the same goal.
