Synopsis
The Jasad Heir opens The Scorched Throne duology, an Egyptian-inspired epic fantasy, roughly ten years after the kingdom of Jasad was destroyed, its magic outlawed and its royal family killed. Sylvia, the last surviving heir of Jasad, has spent the intervening decade hiding under a string of false identities to avoid discovery. Her fragile safety collapses when Arin, the Nizahl Heir tasked with hunting down surviving Jasadi and their magic, tracks a band of Jasadi rebels to her village and she is forced to reveal her own hidden power in front of him. Rather than exposing her at once, Arin proposes an uneasy, dangerous bargain that binds Sylvia to the very enemy sworn to destroy her people, forcing her to help track down the rebels while concealing who she truly is.
