Synopsis
Ahjvar the Leopard, an undying assassin, has been enslaved by the Lady of Marakand and made captain of her Red Masks. His shield-bearer Ghu follows him into the war-torn Duina Catairna to free him, even if it costs Ahjvar's tormented soul. Deyandara, last heir of the Catairnan queen, seeks allies in a land ravaged by disease and war. In Marakand itself, loyalists of the entombed gods Gurhan and Ilbialla begin a revolt, while the Northron wanderer Moth, who may be the only one able to withstand the Lady, has vanished.
