Synopsis
The Lone Drow, the second book of the Hunter's Blades Trilogy, picks up with Drizzt Do'Urden convinced that his closest friends died in the orc invasion chronicled in The Thousand Orcs, and sunk into grief and a loss of purpose as a result. Two surface elves, Tarathiel and Innovindil, arrive with their trained pegasi and help draw Drizzt back from despair, giving him a renewed sense of direction. Determined to blunt the orc offensive commanded by King Obould Many-Arrows, Drizzt sets out to destroy isolated orc clans and prevent reinforcements from swelling the horde's ranks, while, unknown to him, the surviving Companions of the Hall are in fact still alive and fighting an increasingly desperate defensive battle of their own against Obould's forces, racing against time before the orc coalition can overwhelm them completely.
