Synopsis

The Thousand Orcs, the first book of the Hunter's Blades Trilogy, opens as a massive horde of orcs under King Obould Many-Arrows, allied with frost giants led by Gerti Orelsdottr, sweeps down to invade the towns and settlements of the northern Sword Coast, while a handful of drow operatives quietly manipulate events from the shadows for their own ends. During the desperate siege of the town of Shallows, Drizzt Do'Urden becomes separated from Bruenor, Catti-brie, Regis, and Wulfgar, his longtime companions, and believes he has witnessed their deaths in the chaos of battle. Driven by grief and fear for the fate of his friends, Drizzt turns his fury on the invading horde even as the wider conflict spreads, drawing in tense alliances between dwarves and humans in the nearby city of Mirabar and exposing the drow conspiracy stirring beneath the surface invasion.
