Synopsis

The Lunatic Cafe is the fourth novel in Laurell K. Hamilton's Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter series. Anita has become engaged to the werewolf Richard Zeeman, seeking a measure of normal happiness away from the citys supernatural underworld, but her plans are upended when Jean-Claude learns of the engagement and blackmails her into agreeing to date him as well, forcing her into an uneasy arrangement between two very different partners. At the same time, a series of disappearances tied to the local werewolf pack draws Anita into its internal politics, bringing her into contact with pack members including the werewolf Jason and the volatile pack leader Raina, whose rivalries and power struggles put Richard's own position at risk. As Anita investigates the missing pack members, she is forced to navigate lycanthrope customs and hierarchies she barely understands, all while managing the fallout of her complicated romantic entanglements.

Notes

  • From the series record (Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter): The long-running main sequence, mixing full novels and a few shorter novellas, following vampire hunter and necromancer Anita Blake; still active as of the latest update.
