Synopsis

The Obsidian Oracle, published by Troy Denning in 1993, continues the Prism Pentad. King Tithian of Tyr seeks the Dark Lens, an ancient oracle hidden away by dwarven knights and said to be capable of harvesting the power of the sun itself, believing it can elevate him to true sorcerer-king status. Agis of Asticles pursues Tithian for reasons of his own, hoping to seize the same artifact and turn it instead against Borys, the immortal Dragon of Athas, rather than let Tithian claim its power for himself. Their shared quest carries both men from the city of Balic out across the treacherous Sea of Silt, forcing two bitter rivals bound by mutual hatred to navigate dangerous guardians and the artifact's hidden dwarven history even as their animosity threatens to undo them both before they reach it.

Notes

  • From the series record (The Prism Pentad): A five-book tie-in fantasy sequence (1991-1993) set in the desert world of the Dark Sun tabletop setting, by the same author already credited elsewhere in this catalogue for a different tie-in setting.

Publication order and internal chronology are tracked as two separate orderings, but they resolve to the exact same sequence for this book, so one combined line is shown instead of two identical ones.
