Synopsis
The eighth novel finds several storylines converging around both supernatural and political crises across the realm. A coalition of channelers, including Elayne, Nynaeve, and Aviendha, works with the ter'angreal known as the Bowl of the Winds in an attempt to reverse the Dark One's unnatural manipulation of the weather, even as suspicion grows that a member of the Black Ajah is hidden among their own group. Meanwhile, the Seanchan invasion forces Rand al'Thor and his allies into open military conflict in the region of Altara, drawing his forces into brutal combat against the invaders. Elsewhere, Elayne continues pressing her claim to the throne of Andor, Egwene works to consolidate her authority among the rebel Aes Sedai, and Perrin navigates a tense situation in Ghealdan complicated by the presence of a self-proclaimed Prophet stirring unrest among the local population.
