Overview
The Wheel of Time is an epic-fantasy sequence of 14 main-sequence novels plus a prequel, begun by Robert Jordan with The Eye of the World (1990) and, after Jordan's death in 2007, completed by Brandon Sanderson from Jordan's extensive notes, concluding with A Memory of Light (January 2013). As of 2021 the series has sold over 90 million copies, and books 8 through 14 each debuted at #1 on the New York Times bestseller list. Prime Video adapted the series for television, premiering November 19, 2021 with Rosamund Pike as Moiraine Damodred; the show ran for three seasons and 24 episodes, covering material through The Fires of Heaven, and was the most-watched Prime Video series premiere of that year before its cancellation in May 2025 over production costs, prompting a large fan campaign to save it. The novels themselves remain the reference edition of the story, with the show's cancellation leaving the books as the only complete telling of the saga.
