Synopsis
The penultimate novel in the series opens as the seals on the Dark One's prison continue to crumble and the armies of the Shadow begin massing out of the Blight, pushing the world ever closer to the Last Battle. Rand al'Thor's intention to deliberately break the remaining seals alarms Egwene al'Vere and other leaders, who gather their forces at the Field of Merrilor to confront him over the plan. Perrin Aybara, meanwhile, faces threats from several directions at once, hunted by enemies from his past and falsely accused of crimes, while struggling to master his unusual connection to the Wolf Dream. Matrim Cauthon must return to confront the Aelfinn and Eelfinn, mysterious and dangerous beings who dwell beyond a pair of enigmatic stone gateways and who have tormented him before, while Egwene works to root out the hidden Forsaken Mesaana from within the White Tower.
