Synopsis
The twelfth novel, completed by Brandon Sanderson from Robert Jordan's notes after the latter's death, begins the climactic final arc of the series as the world edges closer to the Last Battle, Tarmon Gai'don. Rand al'Thor struggles to unite a fractured network of kingdoms and rulers in preparation for the coming confrontation with the Dark One, even as his own mind bears the strain of prolonged channeling and past trauma inflicted by his enemies, pushing him toward a dangerous emotional numbness. Meanwhile Egwene al'Vere works from within a divided White Tower to expose corruption and hidden traitors among the Aes Sedai, seeking to heal the organization's fractures so that it can stand ready to contribute to the war effort. Both storylines test the two characters as they confront the scale of what lies ahead for the world.
