Synopsis
The eleventh book, the last that Robert Jordan completed before his death, opens with the Seals on the Dark One's prison beginning to fail, and signs multiplying that the Last Battle is drawing closer, from unusual monster attacks to disturbances in the fabric of reality itself. Elayne fights to secure her hold on the throne of Andor against continuing opposition, while Egwene works to undermine Elaida's rule from within the divided Aes Sedai. Perrin Aybara moves to rescue his wife Faile from her Shaido captors at the stronghold of Malden, a mission that forces him to weigh dangerous and unconventional alliances. Elsewhere, Rand attempts to negotiate a truce with a significant adversary while continuing to grapple with the toll that channeling and his dangerous alter-ego are taking on him, as multiple political and military crises converge across the realm.
