Synopsis
With the Forsaken Sammael entrenched in the city of Illian, Rand al'Thor prepares to move against him while also managing a rebellion among the nobles of Cairhien, all while maintaining his relationship with Min Farshaw. His campaign is complicated when the vengeful Padan Fain, seeking revenge for past humiliations, inflicts a severe wound on Rand that threatens to derail his plans. Elsewhere, Egwene al'Vere and Siuan Sanche continue working to consolidate power among the rebel Aes Sedai based in Salidar, maneuvering politically against Elaida's faction at the White Tower. In Ebou Dar, Elayne, Nynaeve, Aviendha, and Mat search for the Bowl of the Winds, a powerful ter'angreal that could help reverse the Dark One's unnatural manipulation of the world's climate, a quest that requires forging alliances with the secretive Kin and the seafaring Atha'an Miere.
