Synopsis
As seals on the Dark One's prison continue to weaken, threats to the world grow more severe, prompting Rand al'Thor to establish the Black Tower, a school meant to train male channelers who have long been feared and shunned. His efforts draw the attention of two separate factions of Aes Sedai, one operating from the rebel base at Salidar and another loyal to the White Tower, each sending envoys hoping to bring Rand under their influence through diplomacy or more forceful means. When the rebel Aes Sedai attempt to bind Rand against his will, he is forced to flee to Cairhien with his most loyal followers, deepening his distrust of the very organizations meant to guide channelers like him. Meanwhile, Aes Sedai researchers work to counter the Dark One's unnatural manipulation of the weather, as political intrigue intensifies throughout the realm.
