Synopsis
With the Stone of Tear fallen and the sword Callandor now in his possession, Rand al'Thor sets his sights on Rhuidean, a forbidden city sacred to the Aiel, in hopes of fulfilling ancient prophecies that could establish him as the Aiel's Chief of Chiefs. His journey into the Aiel Waste exposes long-hidden truths about the desert people's history and Rand's own connection to it. Elsewhere, Perrin Aybara returns to his home region of the Two Rivers to find it under threat, drawing him back into a fight to defend his community. Nynaeve and Elayne continue their pursuit of the Black Ajah and a dangerous magical artifact, while events at the White Tower grow increasingly unstable as political tensions rise. Throughout, the Shadow's reach spreads further, placing pressure on all of the separated companions as they pursue their individual goals.
