Overview
Kristen Britain's Green Rider is an epic fantasy following Karigan G'ladheon, a runaway student who becomes a magical messenger, a Green Rider, for the beleaguered kingdom of Sacoridia after a dying rider presses her into service on a forest road. The main sequence began with Green Rider (1998) and has continued for over two decades, reaching eight novels by 2025 alongside two companion works, making it one of the longer-running active single-author epic fantasy sequences still being published. The books follow Karigan's growth from reluctant messenger to a rider entangled in Sacoridia's magic, its uneasy peace with the supernatural Blackveil Forest, and a slow-burning conflict with the empire of Mornhavon the Black's surviving followers. Britain has written the series with long gaps between installments, and it has built a loyal readership over its run for its blend of political intrigue, horseback messenger-corps worldbuilding, and gradually expanding magic system.
