Synopsis
Firebrand follows Karigan G'ladheon's return from her journey into the future, bearing a fragment of magical mirror embedded in her eye that grants her flickering visions of futures yet to come. Honored as a swordmaster for her past service, she finds King Zachary weighed down by the burdens of rule and by feelings for her that remain unresolved. When the castle is attacked by an ancient ice elemental known as the Aureas Slee, and Eletian visitors bring word of a prophecy concerning a fourth allied race, Karigan is sent north on a diplomatic mission to find the legendary p'ehdrosian people and renew an old alliance. Her journey grows more perilous as the Aureas Slee secretly abducts King Zachary and takes his place at court, leaving the kingdom exposed even as Karigan presses on toward the far north unaware of what has happened behind her.
