Synopsis
Winterlight is the seventh novel in the Green Rider series, picking up after Karigan G'ladheon's capture and torture at the hands of Grandmother and the Second Empire. Still recovering and haunted by the ordeal, Karigan continues to take on dangerous assignments as a messenger of the Green Rider corps. The Second Empire mobilizes to strike at Sacoridia, targeting a vulnerable mountain garrison and pass, so King Zachary, himself still healing and adjusting to new fatherhood, sends soldiers and Riders to hold the line. When Karigan rejoins her fellow Riders at the garrison she is expected to take on a leadership role, but she finds the group has changed in her absence. As the threat of open war grows, she must reckon with what being a Rider and a hero actually demands of her while still carrying the psychological wounds of her captivity and past losses.
