Synopsis
The High King's Tomb follows Green Rider messenger Karigan G'Ladheon through a period of personal and political strain. King Zachary, who shares her feelings, is compelled into a political marriage to Lady Estora, and Captain Mapstone deliberately keeps Karigan occupied with messenger assignments to manage the resulting tension between the three of them. Against this backdrop, a faction called Second Empire, led by a formidable figure known as Grandmother, works to bring down the D'Yer Wall that protects Sacoridia, and their plans center on locating an ancient book said to hold the secrets of the wall's construction and maintenance. The novel follows the resulting race between the Green Riders, who need the book to repair the failing wall, and Second Empire, who mean to use it to tear the wall down and awaken forces long sealed beyond it.
