Synopsis
The Pillars of Creation shifts focus to Richard's previously unknown half-siblings, Jennsen and Oba Rahl, both born pristinely ungifted and therefore immune to magic, a rare condition in their war-torn world. Jennsen, hunted and manipulated by an Imperial Order spy who exploits her fear and isolation, is drawn toward Jagang's forces and persuaded that Richard, her own half-brother, poses a threat to her. Oba, meanwhile, is drawn into darker service. As the wider war between the D'Haran Empire and the Imperial Order continues, Jennsen's personal journey through deception, suspicion, and eventual clarity becomes central to whether she will side with or against Richard's cause.
Where it sits
- Universe: Sword of Truth
- Series: Sword of Truth (main sequence) core; position 7 of 15 in the series' recorded order
- Author: Terry Goodkind
Notes
- From the series record (Sword of Truth (main sequence)): 15-novel continuous main sequence; publication order equals internal chronology throughout. Correction: The Pillars of Creation's first US edition is 2001 (Nov 20), not 2002 as some secondary listings state; 2002 is a paperback/reprint date bleeding into 'first publication' fields.
Neighbouring works
Publication order and internal chronology are tracked as two separate orderings, but they resolve to the exact same sequence for this book, so one combined line is shown instead of two identical ones.
- Reading order, within the series Sword of Truth (main sequence): position 7 of 15: previous Faith of the Fallen (2000) · next Naked Empire (2003)
