Synopsis
The Power That Preserves closes the First Chronicles of Thomas Covenant, opening years later by the Land's reckoning as Covenant is summoned back to find Lord Foul's final campaign against Revelstone already underway. Atiaran, the woman who once guided him through the Land, has spiraled into grief and madness, and the corrupted Giant Fleshharrower marches with Foul's forces to besiege the Lords' last stronghold. Covenant travels with a small company, including his loyal friend the Giant Saltheart Foamfollower, moving closer to the truth behind the Ravers possessing Foul's lieutenants while the Lords mount their defense of the city. As the siege tightens, Covenant must decide whether he can accept the reality of his white gold ring, the one power the Land's defenders believe capable of turning back Foul's endgame.
