Synopsis
Beaufils is a young man raised alone in a forest home after his mother's death. He knows little of the wider world but has plenty of common sense, and he sets out to find his unknown father and learn his real name. He reaches Camelot just as the quest for the Holy Grail begins and joins several Knights of the Round Table, among them the sanctimonious Galahad. As he travels he meets dreamers, schemers, bandits, hermits and enchantments, each testing his trusting nature. The novel retells the Grail legends and the tale of the Fair Unknown with the comic tone and Arthurian setting of the earlier books.
