Synopsis
A group of young bankers stumbles on an algorithm that turns them into vampires, and the Laundry, which officially insists that vampires do not exist, has to deal with the consequences. Bob Howard's investigation is hampered by the strange reluctance of everyone around him, his own colleagues included, to take the possibility seriously. The reason turns out to be that elder vampires have been quietly influencing the agency's staff for years. The new vampires end up joining the Laundry and the two elders are destroyed, but the victory costs the life of Bob's mentor, James Angleton.
