Synopsis

The Rot, the second book in the Raven Rings trilogy, picks up with Hirka stranded in a decaying, unfamiliar world, cut off from everyone she knows in Ym and left with almost nothing but a raven and a notebook to connect her to her old life. Without identity, family, or money in this new realm, she discovers that its inhabitants will go to extreme lengths, including pursuing a mysterious rite known as "the blessing," in their quest for eternal life. At the same time, the threat of an ancient force called "the blind" is growing more dangerous to Ym's safety, and Hirka, unsure who she can trust and in danger from multiple directions, must try to navigate this corrupting new world while still worrying about what is happening to the people, including Rime, whom she left behind.

Publication order and internal chronology are tracked as two separate orderings and are never conflated: a book's place in one says nothing about its place in the other.

  • Publication order, within the series The Raven Rings: position 2 of 3: previous Odin's Child (2013) · next The Might (2015)
