Overview
The Raven Rings is a completed Norwegian fantasy trilogy by Siri Pettersen, following Hirka, a girl born without the ravenspire mark that everyone else in her world carries, as she is drawn into a conflict between two worlds bound together by an ancient, decaying gate. Originally published in Norwegian as Odinsbarn (2013), Råta (2014), and Evna (2015), it was later translated into English as Odin's Child, The Rot, and The Might through Arctis Books' US imprint, and into thirteen languages in total. The trilogy is built around a tightly-controlled secondary world where ravens carry deep symbolic and narrative weight, and where Hirka's markless status makes her an outcast under suspicion of not being fully human at all. It won three separate Norwegian literary prizes across its three volumes and was the first fantasy novel ever nominated for the Norwegian Booksellers' Prize, marking a notable moment of mainstream literary recognition for genre fantasy in Norway.
