Synopsis
The story opens in the kingdom of Andarra, twenty years after a civil war led to the execution of the Augurs, beings once gifted with precognition and the ability to perceive time itself. In the shadow of that history, a magical contract called the Four Tenets now restrains anyone who wields Essence from using their power to harm others. Davian is a young student at a school for the Gifted who begins to discover that he possesses rare Augur abilities long thought extinguished, powers that mark him as both valuable and dangerous. When an ancient magical barrier protecting the kingdom begins to weaken, threatening invasion by monstrous forces said to be led by an immortal Augur, Davian and his companions, including his friend Wirr and the amnesiac Caeden, are forced to flee their school and confront a danger far larger than any of them expected.
