Synopsis
Picking up after the first book of the Licanius Trilogy, this novel follows several characters as they face the consequences of the failing Boundary that protects Andarra. Wirr, having taken on a new position of authority as Northwarden, contends with assassins and political resistance to his rule. Davian works to master his newly discovered Augur powers while trying to understand why the Boundary keeps weakening. Asha, stationed undercover at court, investigates the unexplained disappearance of a group known as the Shadows. Meanwhile Caeden, still piecing together his lost memories, finds himself bound by a dangerous and uncertain bargain connected to his forgotten past among a group called the Venerate. As each thread advances separately, the characters gradually realize that their individual struggles are converging toward a single, larger threat to the kingdom.
